The Gathering

One table, set where the grass gives way to snow.

Each summer the herding families of the high valleys drive their yaks up to pasture and live beside them until the first frost. For three nights we join one family at their camp — the milking at first light, the slow walk out with the herd, the butter tea that never quite runs out — and on the last evening they set a table for twelve. Places are extended by request, and reviewed one by one.
